Mia aka Sarah

I just wanted to give you an over due update on Sarah. We changed her name to Mia. She is very healthy, happy and spoiled!!! She is now 40lbs. but she has not got much larger. We now know she is a Beagle mix. Our guess is that she is a beagle/lab/shepard/rottie mix. She is extremely smart and loving. She is my best friend and our baby. We take her everywhere and give her constant attention. Although she has two very nice dog beds she sleeps in bed with us every night. We also go to Petsmart every week to visit with the employees, see the animals and buy a new toy (talk about spoiled). She has become a master of the conservation land paths by our house and loves playing with other dogs and cats. My parents kitten and our roommate’s dog, Athena, have become Mia’s best buddies. She truly is the best thing that has ever happened to us and we thank you for helping us make her a part of our family.

Daisy

Everything went well. We were overwhelmed by how many people were there. Everyone looked like their dogs. We all have strawberry blonde hair like Daisy’s. She is just perfect. She has adjusted to our family so quickly. She is playful, sweet, quiet, calm and well behaved inside. Outside she loves the snow, is frisky, playful and fun. She has only had two accidents. I am amazed to think she was abandoned. She seems so perfect. I have this horrible feeling someone must be looking for her and want her back.

The transport folks were wonderful. So kind to every dog and new family. What a rewarding way to spend your time.

Thanks again.

Ella aka Sunshine

She is a total loveball.  We gave her a new name: Cinderella, shortened to Ella (as in Ella Fitzgerald, another strong black female!).  She has slept on Sophie’s bed for the past 2 nights (Sophie is 7), which puts Sophie in heaven.  She has even gotten up at 7:00 2 mornings in a row to walk her!  We are very, very happy to have a dog again.  You should have seen our neighbor’s delight as he met us at the bus stop yesterday with his 2 labs!  I’m thinking of throwing a welcome party…  You have helped us find the new puppy to love I hae been prayng for.

Thank you! Melinda

Chuckie aka Cherokee

Update 2/13/07: He’s doing great and we are calling him Chuckie, with the occasional Cherokee thrown in. He loves walks in woods - we’ve been taking him to Adams Farm, and we’re all involved with training/discipline, tho Jane’s been spending the most time with him. Our yard will be fenced after today so that will help. He’s not comfortable walking on the leash in our neighborhood (scared of cars, other dogs barking) and tends to just freeze up and not want to go, so that’s an area we really need to work on. He also won’t get into the car on his own,but hopefully that will change as he gets fully adjusted. Only other thing is cat and dog are living separate lives - cat gets the nightime, dog gets the day - so we’re hoping that that they get to a point where they tolerate - more the cat’s issue than his at this point, she just is too nervous/neurotic and won’t stay still. Kids are loving him - we all are! Hope all is well,,

Cherokee (Chuckie) is doing great. He’s had some accidents though we have caught him every time and when we say no, he stops mid-stream. Then we take him outside and he can’t finish. Thankfully, he has gone several times outside now and all his poops have happened outside. He is getting used to the sounds of our yard and being on the leash. Considering how different his life is, he’s very adaptable. Our biggest problem is he has given himself a rug burn on his nose from “burying” his bone in the family room. It’s so funny to watch but now we have to stop him and then clean up the blood off the carpet. I hope his nose heals well.
I got a harness for the car which he stands nicely to put on. He doesn’t want to get in the car so I have to lift him in. He sits nicely in the car but is too nervous to eat a treat. I’m going to keep taking him for rides just so he can learn that the car takes him to nice places and home. I’m having a trainer come tomorrow. I can’t wait to get him to the point where I think he can go for a run off lead at Hale Reservation.
We’ve already been gleefully accepted into the dog owner “club” of Westwood and everyone wants us to come walking at Hale with their dogs. I think he will love that. Since we have no fence he is getting a lot of exercise walking on the leash and inside chasing a laser pointer in the family room. He is so funny. He’s going to the vet on Monday. It’s interesting trying to tell people what breed he is and what color, I have no clue what to say. He’s a true mutt, just what we were looking for, handsome, loving, funny and obedient.
Thank you so much for helping him. I tell everyone what a great job you did. It’s nice to know he’s off to a good start and we have so much to build on.

Conner

I can’t believe it will be a week tomorrow that we have had Conner. He is a wonderful puppy full of love! By far, his favorite thing to do is cuddle and be pet. He has adapted well to his new home. He is great with the girls and they give him an abundance of attention. Our other two dogs Bailey and Ziggy have fast become his friends. They go with him every time we take him out. He follows them everywhere. The older lab disciplines him with a strong bark when he is misbehaving. His house breaking is going well as long as we read his signals…a funny little bark/howl. It is mostly an issue when he becomes excited. He has learned to sit, lay down and is working on giving paw. He is currently sleeping in his crate at night until he has perfect the potty outside! However, he seems to like the crate and all his toys. He loves running in the yard and jumping through the old hay field. Thank you again!

All my best-
Adrienne
