Norton aka Friday

Just wanted to let you know how well Friday (our Norton) is doing. He has grown to a 70 pound big boy! Hard to believe he was such a little guy (with giant ears) when we went to get him from you all in September. He is the best dog we could ask for - we get compliments all the time on what a wonderful dog he is. Such great temperment - and he is such a clown! He was such a mellow puppy, but boy has his spark turned on the last month or so - he is doing all those puppy things that I thought he just wasn’t ever going to get around to doing. Let’s put it this way, I need to go shoe shopping :) And just when I thought I didn’t need to - the house is puppy proofed again - I guess he was a late bloomer!

But he is charming just the same! We had some friends over for the weekend last month - the wife was originally not a dog lover - didn’t dislike them, but not a lover - Mr.Norton, however, has won her over with his cuddling - got right into the guest bed with them and cuddled in the morning! She is now so smitten they are doggie-sitting while we are in Florida in April. Once they buy a house and get settled, we will send them your way - they would be the best dog owners!
Keep up all your good work at your rescue - you have certainly enriched our lives!
I can’t imagine what we did before Norton - he and Ralphie are the center of our family!
All the best!
Kathy and George
P.S. last October you sent us an e-mail about being foster parents to puppies who are still looking for a home. We are considering this for the summer - I teach and have much of the summer off. I want to think about it for a bit - my fear is that I would get too attached. But if there is a need this summer, keep us in mind - I really want to be of help to the dogs in your rescue that just need a temporary placement until their real one comes available. Also: if you have any info on fostering, etc. please send it our way so I can do a little research. Meanwhile - I’ll try to get over my attachement thing so I can help your cause :)
Thanks - Kathy

Queenie

We have had Queenie for a week now. She is doing great. There is still a little jealousy sometimes between her and Josie when it comes to affection. Both of them love to be cuddled and constantly need attention. They are getting along great though. They get their daily exercise whether it be running in the yard together or going for walks. It was so funny to see them playing in the snow. They loved it. Queenie still needs a little more training regarding getting up on our bed at night. They both have their own beds on each side of our bed. The first night was exhausting. Queenie get jumping up on the bed. My Fiance’ needed to lay down with her in her bed until she fell asleep. It worked well because now she goes right in her bed at night. As soon as he gets up in the morning, bam, she’s in the bed with me which is ok because I consider her my alarm clock now. Other than that she is adjusting well. We can’t tell you how happy the girls have made us. It’s exhausting sometimes but its well worth it. Plus it’s good training for us when and if we ever decide to have children. I’ve enclose a couple of pictures. Thank you Petmatchmaker for making it possible for us to adopt Queenie and Thank You Cyndi for taking such good
care of Queenie!

Regards,
Dina Chella

Dixie and Maggie

I thought I’d share some updated pictures of the girls - they are doing fantastic! Dixie is a snuggle bug for sure - she loves to lean on Mark for attention. Maggie is still petrified of the camera. I don’t know if you can tell, but I was on the front porch and they were quite a distance away - I did manage to get a shot with her ears up - she is so pretty. Maggie is doing fantastic. I don’t know if you remember, but I had asked you at one point about her being afraid of flickering light - because she reacted so badly to the fireplace. Now, she is laying right next to the hearth with Dixie - just soaking up the warmth. They are amazing. We can’t imagine life without them.

Spring is almost here!

Carmella

Carmella is healthy and doing very well. She is beautiful and is getting along much better with Molly our cat. Alls well in the Merlet fam when it comes to the furry family. She sleeps right in the middle of my husband and myself. Sometimes she even lays on top of me. I don’t think she realizes she weighs about 50 pounds now.But I can’t push those blue eyes away from me.lol

We love her so much!!!!!! She is a sweetheart.
Everyone loves her. I am so lucky we got to get her.
I thank you again….. Have a nice Easter…….

Roo aka Stella

Stella is wonderful. We are calling her Roo as in the Winnie the Pooh characters Kanga & Roo. She is a true delight, bright inquisitive and thinks everything is a new toy. But best of all she seems healthy.
We’ve already set up an appointment with our Vet to have them both get acquainted, hopefully we can associate vet visits as something fun to do.
She’s doing great with her potty training, and this morning I made her a little jacket. I’m not much on sewing but I wanted her to have something to wear outside and I know this one won’t fit her long, next cool season we’ll get her a real coat from Petco.
Thanks for all your help, she was worth the wait.
