Brandy

I know your busy helping people find good dogs, but I had to let u know I took Brandy to the vet last night and they all fell in love with her, she was so will behaved and loving.  They were also impressed with the amount of info I had on her and how up to date it was.  They wanted to know everything about your org.  I am soooo happy I got this dog.   My 20 yr old son is home from school and he has just fallen in love with her, he has always been around senior dogs that i had, so brandy is like having a puppy for him.  If I ever get another dog it will be from petmatchmaker.  Oh and brandy does like the water, the seagulls, the beach and her 2 mile walks every nite and the cats.  thank again.

Toby

He’s doing fantastic!  We love him, and though it is good to hear there will be a place for him if something happens, we really have no intention of giving him up.  My husband has been taking him to the beach almost every morning, and has developed the relationship enough to let him run free most days (he has never owned a large dog before, so his confidence is growing, which is great!).  At first, Toby would run directly to the houses, and we’d have to pull him out of the trash, but now, he “behaves” (of course before he was behaving like a dog, but you know what I mean), and while he won’t go near the ocean water, he LOVES to swim in the river that runs off into the ocean.

At home, I’ve been clicker training him, and he’s responding great.  He’s staying for longer and longer (today, for up to 15 minutes, broken up into many 2-3 minute stay commands, WHILE the fencing guys were here and he desperately wanted to be barking at them at the door, but he stayed and was quiet, woohoo!).  This has helped a great deal with the chasing cat scenarios, and though it will take some time, we actually think the cat and dogs will eventually co-exist more peacefully (Alley is no angel in this department, so all the blame cannot be put on Toby).  Once the fence is up, we’ll be working on training with outdoor distractions, as well as fetching with “manners” and greeting other dogs calmly.

One very endearing habit is that he waits right outside the bathroom door for me to get out of the shower.  He cannot fathom what I would want to be in there for, and gives me very soulful eyes whenever I peek my head out (you know the ones dogs give…head on the front paws, big eyes, eyebrows raised in patient, long suffering inquiry).

My 6 year old loves the dogs, and though he is exactly half Toby’s weight, he attempts to train, plays tug of war, and finds it hilarious to get Toby to fetch, and then switch the thing he is fetching in mid play.

We are taking the dogs on our trip to Prince Edward Island, where we’ve rented a huge pet friendly house, on 11 acres of land and private beach.  Not sure how the car ride will be as we haven’t had both dogs at the same time, but we’ll be taking some mini trips for tests.

Anyways, I can go on and on.  But I’ll leave you with a couple of pictures.

Take care,
Tracy

Sydney aka Mendi

Mendi (who we now call Sydney) is fabulous.  The blood in the urine resolved — by the time I took her to the vet that week, she was urinating normally and had no other symptoms, so they didn’t even get a sample from her.  In general, she is just the sweetest dog — my husband and I love her!  She seems so happy in her new “urban” Brookline life, making tons of friends in the park and already a favorite “client” of her dog walker.

We can’t thank you all enough for helping to bring her into our lives.  What wonderful work you do!

Thanks again, and we’ll keep in touch,

Kate

Sunny

Hi guys,,,
Thanks for the updates on the puppies- they are adorable! There is no mistaking that they are brothers! Each picture I looked at was like looking the same puppy in a different color.
Sunny is doing great. He is a high energy, fun loving puppy. Like Wyatt, puppy kindergarden classes are doing wonders for him. He is rather mischevious and does well with 2 walks a day at an hour each.He tends to be a little nuts if he doesn’t get outside enough so I bought a big umbrella and we go out, rain or shine! Good thing I need the excersize! He loves to run around with my 9 year old daughter Kenzi and they spend a lot of time playing soccer in the backyard. He even goes down the slides a local park! He is a great family dog.We take him everywhere with us and he is very well behaved (most of the time!). Not to say he won’t steal an untended hot dog or try to chase the neighbors cat, but it is all with the best of intentions!
Sunny weighs in at about 34-35 pounds right now. He is good tempered and friendly and will do just about ANYTHING for a treat. He knows to sit and wait at any open door and not run until we say “ok”…he is learning long distance retrieval (come back when called from a long distance), but we still have quite a bit of work to do on that one. Right now, he practices more along lines of selective hearing. Just like Tiger, Sunny LOVES the car…it means he is coming along on a trip to the beach, the park or to one of Kenzi’s sporting events- and that means little kids and lots of attention. We have a 10 month old nephew and Sunny seems to know to be very gentle with him. He will steal a lick on the face every now and again, but he won’t knock him over or play rough with him..and when the baby pulls his tail or his ears, Sunny knows to just take it like a man :)
Keep in touch and keep sending pictures! These pictures of Sunny are about a month old- I will send some new ones soon.

Tiger

Tiger is doing well as long as we keep him tired. :-)  He has some friends in the area he plays with (a 1 yr Golden and a pair of Border Collies).  However, Tiger will play with just about any dog he can.  He seems to prefer dogs to humans.  Oh, he’ll “settle” for us. Actually, we feel very grateful that he likes dogs and people. One of the pictures is at Ninigret Park playing with an instant friend.  Some older dogs don’t care so much for Tiger’s energy, and they tell him so, but he will still try.

The other picture is at a pet-friendly hotel in PA. He travels very well. We just put the crate in the back of the van with a few toys, and he is good to go.  He likes the car because it means something fun for him.  We are going to kennel him next month in North Stonington, CT, at a really cool place.  He’ll get time to exercise and play with other dogs.  He’ll get a kennel cough shot beforehand.

My husband takes Tiger to the Groton dog park, and he loves it. Again, anything with other dogs.  He’s doing fine on the leash and with going potty outside; however, there is the once in a while potty mishap. His is about 33 lbs. when he was weighed a week ago.  Curious to how big he’ll get.  He is getting used to the water and will now play in it (not to keen to swim yet).  We did buy him a doggie life jacket for when we go boating.  Hopefully, he’ll like boating more than I do. :-)
