Chipper

guess Chipper is a keeper. We were not home 30mins with Chipper and my husband had the dog on his lap. My husband has fallen head over heels in love with Chipper. He takes him  just about everywhere with him. He has more toys than he knows what to do with. I get a call almost daily from Preston telling me something cute Chipper has done. Chipper has been to the Vet. No problem there. He has received his heartworm medication and flea application. Chipper doesn’t like the cold so he now has a few items of clothing to help him with cold. Potty training has been bit slower, but Preston has him on schedule, heaven help me if I don’t keep to it. :) I must admit Chipper is a really smart dog and he very well manner. The real test for him was over the Thanksgiving holiday. He met the grandchildren. he never bark, growl or bit them. The only time we hear Chipper barking is when he wants out of his crate or to get our attention.  He did have a wonderful time running and playing. I tried to keep him in his crate while they were over, but the whole family said I was being cruel. So our 14 year old granddaughter kept him on her lap allot. Preston has sign him up for puppy classes at nearby Petco. I wanted to sent him to Canine College, but Preston said no. he wasn’t doing without our dog for 2 weeks.

I want to say thank you very much,

Juanita and Preston

Cookie

It’s hard to believe that it has only been one week since
we adopted Dolly.  She has
us wrapped around her little paws.  We decided that the name Cookie
suits her much better than
Ling Ling, so that is what we have named her.

On Sunday afternoon, she had a full grooming at Petsmart and looks
even cuter than she did before.
Hard to believe, but true.   On Monday, she had her first appointment
with the veterinarian.  Dr.
Lagasse said that she is a healthy dog and she has a nice disposition.
 Oh, and last Saturday,
Claude and I took a Good Dog Great Starts class at the local MSPCA.
We will be taking Cookie to
obedience classes in January.

Housebreaking will be slow since she is so little and the weather has
been so cold, but we are
confident that once we get on the right track she’ll do great.

She has met a lot of new people this week and everyone has fallen in
love with her.  Our daughter
is just delighted with her “new little sister”.  Tomorrow, we will
take our Christmas card photo
of our two “girls” with their grey sweaters and pink scarfs.  It is
just a coincidence that they
both have grey sweaters and pink scarfs.

In the short time since I wrote the above, Cookie has shown a
remarkable improvement in her
housebreaking skills.  She has been doing her “business” outside more
frequently.  We were, also,
very happy to find a clean crate this morning when we were greeted by
our tail-wagging Cookie.

Thank you again for making it possible for us to become Cookie’s
forever parents.

Sincerely and happily, Carol and Claude Dozois

Dale

wanted to touch base with you to let you know we’re enjoying our pooch so much - it’s been almost 1 month already!  He’s been great; he had a little tapeworm issue a few weeks ago but he’s doing fine after some medicine….Don finished the makeshift fence in the back so he’s got the whole backyard to frolic in and he can visit Coby each morning (the neighbor’s dog on the other side of the fence).  Dale also rings a bell to go out - it’s tied to the sliding door handle and he occasionally abuses his bell ringing privileges!Pauline Sevigny

Lee

So far we have kept the name Lee.  We’ve thought of changing it but did not really come up with anything different.  He has been behaving well. I think he is becoming less intimidated by Blitz - and let’s him get closer with out gettting uptight.  They play together a bit, even a little wrestling.  Lee can run circles around him, so in the yard Lee tends to dart around and try to go after Blitz’s ball to tease him.  If he gets it then he makes Blitz chase a bit before dropping it.
We introduced the cat last weekend.  We have a great cat who is not all that afraid of dogs and not aggressive with them.  Overall went well and they seem like they will be fine.  Blitz actually helped.  If Lee gets a little wound up around the cat or kids, Blitz usually steps in, puts his head on top of Lee and settles him down.
Overall - Lee seems as advertised. Playful, affectionate, and smart.  A good mix.
Thanks for checking in… geoff

Hazel (formerly known as Wilma)

All is going just wonderfully
with Wilma (we changed her name to Hazel, an old
family name!).  She is just the sweetest puppy, who
only wants love and hugs and couldn’t be happier.

If you recall, we have another beagle mix, Lucy, whom
we adopted about 3 years ago.  She was unfortunately
very mistreated and so timid and shy.  She’s great
with us now, but she’s still scared to meet new people
and is still untrusting until she gets to know you
well.  But Lucy has some great dog friends in the
neighborhood, so we thought she might enjoy a sister.
Well Hazel and Lucy have become fast friends and the
love each other!  They play together for hours (they
are both about the same size, with Hazel a bit taller)
and then sleep together afterwards.  In fact, Lucy had
to adjust more than Hazel.  Hazel just goes up to
everyone and wants to say hi and wags her tail and is
just a loving, trusting dog.  So Lucy even seems to be
following Hazel’s lead and becoming more confident
too.  Everyone in the neighborhood now knows them
both–Lucy is mostly white with black and brown and
Hazel mostly black with white and brown, so they are
quite a beautiful pair!

Thank you so much for arranging for the opportunity
for us to adopt Hazel.  Hazel is so friendly and
extremely well-behaved.  She is potty trained and
listens very well to “come” and “sit.”  She doesn’t
chew things (except her toys!) and has learned what
furniture she can jump on and what she cannot jump on.
In fact, we were ready for a few weeks/months of
small disasters and challenges that go with new dogs
(especially puppies), but Hazel has been so, so easy
to take care of!  It’s quite striking the difference
between Hazel’s first weeks and Lucy’s first few weeks
when we got her.  Lucy was freightened and shy and
chewed and got into trouble just because she was
trying to figure out her new life.  Hazel has been so
easy and we’re so happy that she has adjusted this
well in such a short time.  My husband and I now feel
like our family is complete! :)

Take care,
Nancy
