Lila

“Lila” is doing great !!!!  She has bee through housebreaking 101, and
passed!!  It took a couple of weeks (about 4) but she finally got it.She has another new friend too…. she has a 13 week old chocolate lab sister named “Hazel”.  She is very gentle with
Her, she must have been a great mom at one time. The invisible fence has been installed and all the dogs are fully trained on it.  They absolutely love it.  We fenced a full acre for the dogs to run and
play in.  She is the most submissive girl when it comes to people, especially children.  However the other night a strange man came to the house at about 11:30pm and rang the door bell, I was the only one awake. She stood between me and the front door (which was open)  our storm door is all glass so she could see this man outside with a long trench coat on, and long hair up in a ponytail.  There was something about him she did not like. He asked me to go outside and help him fix his car that had broken down.  I told him he needed to leave or I would call the police.  “Lila” made it very
clear to him that he was not welcome !!!! It was comforting to know that she would protect her family if she felt it were necessary.  We love her.

Talk to you soon,
Michelle

Missy

HI ;Yes I found my new girl on Petfinder. I saw her picture and fell in love. I lost my dog three weeks before that. She was 15.5 yrs old. I wasn’t going to get a  dog just yet. But my wife said I need a distraction at home. When we got Miss Edie, aka Missy, it was love at first sight. We have been together every day. Now my wife is jealous. (ha-ha) thank you Petfinder and Petmatchmaker and every one who had a hand keeping my new love alive. She gives me new hope every day.

Shelby

Hello all!
We have had Shelby with us for about 8 months now and we just love her.  She is such a sweet little thing and she has soooo much personality that she lets out once she is comfortable with you.  She still submissive pees sometimes but it is a lot less frequent than it used to be and we feel that eventually she will stop doing it all together.  She loves to go running with me and she seems to be able to tell when I’m putting my running clothes on because she runs to the back door and whines until I’m ready.  She loves people and likes to play with our friends’ dogs when they come over.  Her and the cat also get along quite well and the cat loves to “hunt” the dog, which Shelby generally ignores.  She is such a sweet dog, so attatched to us and just wanting to please.  We took her to obedience classes and that really helped with her submissive urination. Once she figured out what we wanted she was perfectly happy to do it, and knowing what we wanted made her a lot less nervous.  Shelby has also gained weight since being with us (lately I’m thinking maybe a little too much!).  She loves to eat now and has become very food motivated.  She came with us to cut down our Christmas tree this year.  Thanks again for saving a such a sweetie!

Riley

Everything is going great with Riley! He is such a great dog, and we are so happy to have him as part of our family!  He seems to be adjusting to our routine nicely.

He has so much fun in the snow - we haven’t had any more since Monday, however it is supposed to snow a few inches tonight.  He’ll be happy to roll around and play in fresh snow!   Every day we go for a long walk at 6 am and again around 8 pm, and he doesn’t seem to bothered at all by the cold.

Last night, he met my sister-in-law’s German Shepherd - who is about 80 lbs!   It was fun watching them interact, especially with the size difference.  We spend a lot of time with their family, so we were hoping that they’d get along.  It looks promising…

We had a good vet visit on Monday night.  He is all up to date on his shots. He weighed in at 52.6 lbs, so he definitely has grown. Our vet estimated that he is 9 months old, and will be ”filling out” a bit more.  Overall, though, he is very healthy and well adjusted.  Everywhere we go, people comment on how handsome he is.
He really is a special boy, and we just love him.  Thank you for seeing his potential as a great family pet, and for giving him a chance!

Take care,
Kathy
